Did You Know?

The Province of Saskatchewan has Canada’s second largest honours and awards program, next to Ontario.

Saskatchewan's Francophone presence dates back to the 17th century, when New France was an influence across most of North America. Today, more than 16,000 Francophones still use French and more than 50,000 residents of Saskatchewan are able to communicate in French. Together, these individuals make up the Saskachewan Francophone community, the Fransaskois.

The history of the Fransaskois is rich with challenges and successes. It is the story of a proud and vibrant community that built itself a place in the history of our province and, at the same time, a place in the province's future.

The Francophone communities of Saskatchewan are found throughout the province. Here is a map featuring the local, provincial and national organizations, parishes, and government services available to Francophones in Saskatchewan, as well as the Fransaskois schools.

The Fransaskois are found throughout the province in both rural and urban areas. There are significant concentrations of Francophones in the following communities:

  • Bellegarde
  • Bellevue
  • Debden
  • Gravelbourg
  • la Trinité (Vonda, Prud'homme, St. Denis)
  • Moose Jaw
  • North Battleford
  • Ponteix
  • Prince Albert
  • Regina
  • Saskatoon
  • Willow Bunch
  • Zenon Park
