2009-11
2005-06 - 2008-09
The third agreement, the Canada-Saskatchewan Agreement on French-language Services, was signed in 2006. This four-year agreement ensured cost-shared financing based on a gradual increase in services until 2008-09. It also included a provincial strategic plan - the first of its kind - on French-language services in Saskatchewan. With this agreement, Saskatchewan and the federal government nearly doubled their financial contribution to the development of French-language services.
1999-00 - 2004-05
The second agreement, the Canada-Saskatchewan General Agreement on the Promotion of Official Languages (1999-04), was signed for a five-year period in 2000. This new, 50-50 cost-shared agreement allowed Saskatchewan to implement an action plan for the development of the Francophone community in the province, while focussing on liaison, coordination, communication, intergovernmental cooperation and French-language services. The agreement was extended for a sixth year.
1988-89 - 1997-98
The first Canada-Saskatchewan bilateral agreement on official languages was signed in 1988 to advance the status and use of English and French. This 10-year agreement focused on enhancing translation of the provincial legislation, access to legal services in French, education in French and access to government services in French.
